Amazon SDE Internship India: Application, OA & Interview Guide
How to get an Amazon SDE internship in India — application timeline, online assessment format, coding difficulty, and interview loop for 2026 summer and fall internships.
Amazon SDE internships in India are competitive but structured. The OA filters hard on coding, and the interview is pure DSA + leadership principles. Here is the full pipeline and how to prepare.
Amazon internship timeline India
Amazon India typically opens SDE intern applications in August–October for the following summer (April–June) and sometimes a fall cycle. Watch the Amazon Jobs portal and campus placement cells — off-campus applications open on the careers page.
Apply early. Amazon processes applications in batches, and earlier applicants often get OA invitations sooner.
Online assessment (OA) format
The OA is the hardest filter. Usually two coding problems (one easy-medium, one medium-hard) with a 70–90 minute time limit. Some cycles include a behavioral / work-style simulation section.
Problem 1 is often string manipulation, arrays, or hash maps. Problem 2 is usually trees, graphs, DP, or greedy — LeetCode medium level with edge cases.
- Problem 1: Easy-medium (solve in 20 min)
- Problem 2: Medium-hard (allocate 40–50 min)
- Partial test cases matter — submit even if not all pass
- Some OAs include a debug / code-completion section
Interview loop — what to expect
If you clear the OA, expect 1–2 virtual interviews. Each is 45–60 minutes with a mix of DSA and behavioral. Amazon uses Leadership Principles heavily — even for interns.
Coding: 1 problem per round, medium difficulty. You must explain your approach before coding, discuss complexity, and handle follow-ups. Behavioral: 'Tell me about a time when...' questions mapped to Customer Obsession, Ownership, Deliver Results.
Preparation checklist
Solve 60–80 LeetCode problems focusing on Amazon-tagged questions. Practice explaining your solution out loud before coding. Prepare 3–4 stories using STAR format mapped to Leadership Principles.
- DSA: arrays, strings, trees, graphs, DP, binary search
- Leadership Principles: memorize 3–4 STAR stories
- Resume: one strong project with measurable impact
- Mock: practice verbal explanation — not just silent coding
How Apply helps for Amazon
Tailor your resume for Amazon SDE JDs — Amazon values measurable impact and ownership language. Use Interview prep with company set to Amazon for DSA + behavioral practice. Run Mock interview to rehearse verbal explanations before the real loop.
